German Forces
German soldiers examine an abandoned KV-2 self-propelled gun, Autumn 1941 (? Army Group North). German Army Group North seems to have been particularly plagued by KV-1 and KV-2s in 1941/'42. The latter had a name for fighting from static strategic positions until they definitively ran out of ammunition. If the position was sufficiently well chosen (and there were many suitable positions in the north Russian landscape), there was often little the Germans could do about it, as few of their guns were capable of dealing with these vehicles at the time. Best regards, JR.
