Young officers of the LSSAH were (in the prewar and early war period) involved in protocol and ceremonial duties in the Fuhrer's establishment.  Here, Max Wunsche is seen attending on Hitler and Goering at the Berlin parade celebrating victory in the West, 1940.  (This is, as I recall, a movie still, but I cannot remember the exact source.)
