Bundeswehr ceremony of taking the Oath to Hitler in person, 1934.  As oaths go, the validity of this one in legal and/or moral terms was distinctly questionable.  However, many German soldiers and commanders, over the next decade or so, thought otherwise ... Best regards, JR.

Young officers of the LSSAH were (in the prewar and early war period) involved in protocol and ceremonial duties in the Fuhrer's establishment.  Here, Max Wunsche is seen attending on Hitler and Goering at the Berlin parade celebrating victory in the West, 1940.  (This is, as I recall, a movie still, but I cannot remember the exact source.)
