Undated photo probably from the early 1940s... This group, related to each other, are on a leisurely cruise on the Rhine river. On the right is Mathias Zerwas in a Luftwaffe uniform. He would die toward the end of the war, when his plane was shot down over or around Budapest, Hungary. Is buried there in a huge military cemetery with approx. 6000 German soldiers.

Undated photo, probably from the early 1940s - relatives on my wife's side... In Luftwaffe dress uniform (rank unknown) is Mathias Zerwas (the lady next to him is his sister). Toward the end of the war he was shot down with his plane over or around Budapest, Hungary and is buried there in a mass grave for nearly 6000 German soldiers.

Undated photo - probably the later part of the war - of Mathias Zerwas with his plane. He was shot down and perished over or around Budapest, Hungary. He is buried in the German military portion of Uj Koztemeto (New Public cemetery) at the outskirts of Budapest, along with approx. 6000 of his fellow soldiers. May he R.I.P.
