A group of German troops, awaits orders outside a command post in the Moscow suburbs in November 1941. Their discomfort, caused by a lack of winter clothing, grew worse as the infamous Russian winter descended upon them. German General Alfred Jodl had denied winter gear to his troops on the Eastern front, lest the soldiers get the impression that their mission to conquer the Soviet Union might not be accomplished on schedule.
