During the opening phase of Barbarossa, many Russians welcomed the German invaders as liberators. That soon changed when the notorious Einsatzgruppen followed in the wake of the advancing German forces. This image of a young SS-Mann, fraternizing with  Russian Civilians, seems at odds with the true picture of the SS in Russia, incredible bravery, alongside incredible brutality, (scanned by HOS Bandit)
