Adolf Kratz, Werner Schwalb and Johannes Wittinger were tried for the murder of August Plaszek.  Schwalb was sentenced to hang; Kratz received life imprisonment ( he was later returned to Germany after contracting tuberculosis); Wittinger was acquitted.

SENTENCED TO HANG

The corpses of the Angler POW Camp escapees who were killed by the Canadian authorities were returned to the camp by dogsled for burial.
