Heinz Gunther Guderian

Oberstleutnant Heinz Gunther Guderian, elder son of Generaloberst Heinz (Wilhelm) Guderian. Heinz Gunther served with panzer units in the battles of Poland and France, being wounded twice in the course of the latter. He later served as Operations Officer with Panzerdivision 116, 1942-'45. Post-war, he served in a number of positions with the Bundeswehr, rising to the rank of Generalmajor and Inspector of Armoured Troops - the latter office being equivalent to that held by his father in the course of WW2. In addition to his wartime RK and Wound Badge in Silver, Heinz Gunther Guderian was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit for his services to the Bundeswehr. Best regards, JR.
