Men of the 5th Mountain Division, pressed into duty as Airborne-Troopers, wait on a Greek airfield to board Ju-52s for the 150 mile flight to Crete. Landing amid withering British fire, these tough soldiers helped to secure the vital Maleme airfield and pave the way for a German victory.
