SS-Sturmbannführer (Major) FRITZ RENTROP (*November 19, 1917 in Münster/Westphalia; MIA February 2, 1945 in Hungary). Rentrop was awarded the Knight's Cross on October 13, 1941 for taking a railway bridge across River Desna near Makoshino/Russia with only four soldiers of his unit (2nd Battery/SS-Flak-Abteilung 2 "Das Reich"). As 1st Staff Officer of IV. SS-Panzerkorps on February 2, 1945 he was captured seriously injured by the Red Army in Hungary and is missing since then. (Bundesarchiv, Bild 101III-Zschaeckel-159-08)
