The young man on the right is the rather well-known German author Guenther Grass, who in 1945 and aged 17 was conscripted into the Waffen SS division Frundsberg. He only saw action for a couple of months and probably never even fired a shot, yet it caused quite a ruckus in Germany when he decided to drag this particular skeleton out of his closet a short while ago.
