Hitler's last military governor of Paris, who side-stepped Hitler's orders to utterly destroy Paris before it fell into Allied hands. But for this man, there would be no Notre Dame, no Eiffel Tower, none of Paris' beautiful bridges, none of its famous museums and art centers; the City of Light would have been marred forever, for no military reason other than pure spite. SS-Obersturmbannführer, the commander of the SS-Panzer Grenadier Regiment 10 "Westland" / 5th  SS-Panzer Grenadier Division "Wiking". Recipiant of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. Killed in action on 10/10/1943 leading his men against Russian fortifcations around the Dněpru River.
