Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch

Generalfeldmarschall (Field Marshal) Walther von Brauchitsch (1881-1948). Major and staff officer in WW1. Awarded the Knight's Cross on September 30th 1939 as Supreme Commander of the Army (Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres). Being in very poor health after the numerous arguments with Hitler he retires in December 1941 and Hitler makes himself his successor. Von Brauchitsch spent the rest of the war on a hunting lodge in Bohemia. On October 18th 1948 he died in a British Military Hospital due to a thrombosis shortly before he should be trialed.
