Production line for the PzKpfw VI Tiger I at the Henschel Works, 1944.  Manufacturing and assembling these complex, temperamental monsters was a good deal more complex and laborious than producing, say, a Model T Ford.  Consequently, notwithstanding the impression of a standard mass production line, this assembly process had as much in common with a craft process as with standard mass production. Interesting photo from the Bundesarchiv of PzKpfw V Ausf A Panther tank in Budapest, 1944.  Spare track has been attached to augment the armor of the tank's relatively vulnerable sides.  Note particularly the track attached at the rear of the hull - this is to protect the vehicle's fuel tanks and fuel system, which were notably "delicate" and vulnerable.  Best regards, JR.
