PzKpfw III Ausf E tanks of General de Panzertruppe Georg Stumm's XL Panzer Corps taking part in the German victory parade, 1941.  The building they are passing is the Hotel de Grande Bretagne, a five-star luxury hotel in central Athens with a splendid view of the Acropolis from its rear terrace.  Not surprisingly, it became a German headquarters building and VIP residence during the Occupation.  After the war, and some difficult years, the premises was re-established as a luxury hotel, and is advertising its five-star luxury services to this day.  Best regards, JR.

German and Hungarian soldiers on a Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B "King Tiger" tank from the 503rd Heavy Tank Battalion in Budapest, during Operation "Panzerfaust". The two soldiers standing on top of the turret appear to be Hungarians.- In October 1944, the Germans, for fear of losing the oil fields in Hungary, committed a coup d'etat, in which power was transferred to Arrow Cross leader Ferenc Szalasi, a devoted ally of the Nazis.

StuG III Ausf G assault guns pass the Hotel de la Grande Bretagne in parade, 1941. This photo was taken from across the street at a difficult, elevated angle. In it, the "Grande Bretagne's" neighbor, the Hotel le Petit Palais, another, smaller luxury hotel. I believe that this was incorporated into the Hotel de la Grande Bretagne about ten years ago.
