As the vast bulk of the German tank force consisted of light machines, they suffered substantial tank losses from Polish conventional artillery, antitank rifles and even cannon-armed tankettes.  The tank force had been significantly updated by the time of the invasion of France - but substantial numbers of light machines were still performing front line duties at the time of Operation Barbarossa in Summer, 1941. A "Ersatz M10 Panther" was a Panther tank disguised as a M10 Wolverine meant to cause confusion in the us army during the ardennes offensive. the tank was equipped to Panzerbrigade.150 Rabenhugel where it was equipped with at least 5 Ersatz M10 Panther one with a captuerd 76mm taken from a M4A1.during the battle 3 of the tanks were captuerd and two destroyed
