Italian Campaign, 1944: likely photographed by an Allied recce plane a German Panzer VI “Tiger” of Schwere Heeres Panzer Abteilung 508 (sPzAbt. 508) abandoned beside the road between Cori and Artena, Southern Latium, during the operations to support the Anzio beachhead. Note a tow rod is still mounted on the front of the Tiger and the turret of the latter backward traversed (probably the tank were disabled and were towed) and also an overturned wheeled vehicle on the border of the way. The soldier along the way seems Americans. According some sources the sPzAbt. 508 lost seven Tiger tanks in the Cori sector which had to be blown up due to lack of fuel and 11 more Tigers near Giulianello. Victor Sierra
