Pz III at Moerdijk, Holland, 13 May, 1940.

Two of the (very few) PzKpfw III vehicles assigned to the Dutch campaign at Moerdijk, 13 May, 1940. The panzers of this detail were subsuently engaged in an unexpectedly costly action against Dutch defenders on Dordrect - losses in tanks of about 20, presumably of light tanks for the most part. The "XX" tactical mark is clearly visible on the left-hand tank. These tanks were certainly of the 9th Panzer Division which, equally clearly, was using this mark in this period. Best regards, JR.
