German Air Force
unknown
One of the 2 A-variant aircraft built, displaying German markings. The Laté 299A was a Latécoère 299 (whose project started in 1937 and ended in July 1940 with the French capitulation) fitted with a second, tandem engine on the same crankshaft driving contra-props, and configured as a land plane instead of a floatplane. The Germans picked up the project again in 1942 but the prototypes never actually flew, althought one was taken to an airfield for testing in April, 1944. It was destroyed by fire on the 30th of that same month, thus ending his story.
