Heinkel He-59

On an unknown European beach, civilians gather around a Heinkel He-59 belonging to a sea rescue unit (Seenotstaffel). This planes would later be in the center of some controversy due to the fact that despite the red crosses and of being unarmed planes, they were considered a valid target by British pilots during the Battle of Britain and many ended up being shot down, a situation that caused resentments among the German pilots. Photo taken in July, 1940.
