Egmont, Prinz zur Lippe-Weissenfeld, night-fighter ace with 51 victories.  Killed, along with his crew, in a flying accident, March 1944.  Knight's Cross with Oakleaves, 2 August 1943.  A handsome gentlemen, I think - but perhaps not enough ladies In Here to appreciate him ... Best regards, JR.

Luftwaffe ace Franz von Werra escaped from a prison train bound for the camp at Neys, Ontario, and successfully crossed the half-frozen St. Lawrence River to reach the still-neutral United States.  Although von Werra glamorized his story for reporters, there is no doubt that his was one of the most daring escapes undertaken by a POW in Canada!
