Lieutenants Mendoza and Ibarreche display the banner of the "Blue Squadrons" - five of which flew in German service against the Soviet Union.  If memory serves, they were credited with some 130 "kills" in all; perhaps suspiciously high.  Their acknowledged losses (of the order 20-25) might be taken as a bit low ... Lieutenant D. Fernando Sánchez Arjona of 4th Blue Squadron, the most successful of the Eastern Front Spanish fighter squadrons with 74 credited "kills".  This officer died in an air crash, apparently caused by icing on his wings.  Best regards, JR.
