The Kommodore of JG 2, Oberstleutnant Egon Meyer, inspects one of his victims, a B-17. In early 1944 he was the Luftwafte's leading Heavy bomber specialist. Meyer was killed in combat with Thunderbolts near Montmedy on March 2, 1944. His total of 102 enemy aircraft shot down, all in the west, included 25 four-engined Bombers. (scanned by HOS Bandit)

Another KC recipient, Oberfeldwebel Josef 'Jupp' Zwernemann of II./JG52. Received KC 6/29/42, after 57 kills. Received Oakleaves 10/31/42, after 101 kills.
