Hauptmann (Captain) Hans-Joachim &quot;Jochen&quot; Marseille (born December 13th, 1919 in Berlin, KIA September 30th, 1942 near Sidi Abd el Rahman/Egypt. Captain of 3rd Squadron/Jagd-Geschwader 27. 4th holder of the Knight's Cross with oakleaves, swords and diamonds. He achieved 158 aerial victories on 388 missions, all victories against western opponents, mostly Brits. Marseille was called the virtuoso among fighter aces, it took him just a few shots to shoot down the enemy because he was a sharpshooter, always aiming for the cockpit. On September 1st, 1942 he achieved 17 (!!!) confirmed victories, on one day in June 1942 he shot down six opponents in 11 minutes. &quot;The Star of Africa&quot; died undefeated on September 30th, 1942 when he had to deboard his burning plane and his head collided with his plane's tail unit so that he lost consciousness and was not able to open the parachute anymore.

Hans-Ulrich Rudel (July 2, 1916 – December 18, 1982) was a Stuka dive-bomber pilot during World War II. Rudel is famous for being the most highly decorated German serviceman of the war. Hans-Ulrich Rudel WAS THE ONLY PERSON TO BE AWARDED the Knight's Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds.
Rudel accomplished 2,530 combat missions and successfully attacked many tanks, trains, ships, and other ground targets, claiming a total of 2,000 targets destroyed - including 800 vehicles, 519 tanks, 150 artillery guns, a destroyer, two cruisers, a battleship and 9 aircraft which he shot down.
After the war he became a successful businessman in post-war Germany.
Rudel died in Rosenheim in 1982, and was buried in Dornhausen.

Hans Ulrich Rudel

Oberleutnant (1st Lieutenant) Adolf &quot;Addi&quot; Glunz (1918-2002). He shot down 71 enemy planes (under which only 3 on the eastern front) including 19 four-engined bombers. 15 further aerial victories remained unconfirmed. Glunz was never shot down and has never been wounded on his 574 missions. He was once wounded though during an RAF bombing raid on Abbeville in April 1942 when he was taking a shower and he was hit by glass pieces from a broken window.
