Already full equipped, a pilot of 1ère Escadrille GR2/33 “Savoie”, Forces Aériennes Françaises Libres (Free French Air Force) fasten the oxygen mask prior of the departure for a reconnaissance mission with his Lockheed F-5 (recce version of the P-38 Lightning), Pomigliano d’Arco, Naples, Spring 1944. Leaded by the Capitaine Gavoille, the Escadrille, the same of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, was embedded inside the Northwest African Photographic Reconnaissance Wing of the Mediterranean Allied Air Force and from April 1944 was engaged in the Campaign of Italy.
