Already full equipped, a pilot of 1ère Escadrille GR2/33 “Savoie”, Forces Aériennes Françaises Libres (Free French Air Force) fasten the oxygen mask prior of the departure for a reconnaissance mission with his Lockheed F-5 (recce version of the P-38 Lightning), Pomigliano d’Arco, Naples, Spring 1944. Leaded by the Capitaine Gavoille, the Escadrille, the same of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, was embedded inside the Northwest African Photographic Reconnaissance Wing of the Mediterranean Allied Air Force and from April 1944 was engaged in the Campaign of Italy. Pomigliano d’Arco, Naples, spring 1944, Free French Air Force’s Groupe de Reconnaissance 2/33, or GR2/33, (Recce Group 2/33): parachute’s control of the Lockheed F-5, recce version of the P-38 Lightning number 80 “Jeanne”, a famous aircraft: “Jeanne” was the plane assigned at Antoine de Sainty-Exupéry, the same upon which will meet one’s end on 31 July 1944.
