Latécoère 298 in flight. These French seaplanes were primarily used by the French Navy as torpedo bombers, being in service during the entire war years. In the final days of the invasion of France in 1940, they ended up being sacrificed in strafing runs against the German armored columns. Later during the war, captured examples were used by the Luftwaffe and Vichy Regime.

Eleusis were a stopover during the long ferry flight from the France to Syria, via Italy or Germany, of the Vichy’s fighter units committed for defence of French Middle East against the threat of the British Forces.
