March 1940, the 3rd moroccan tirailleurs regiment is in the Vosges.
Contact between the french population and soldiers of the empire was always very good, the school programs of the 3rd Republic being what they were, and in addition the war propaganda proclaimed constantly that these soldiers were true french.
