Probably march 1945, Alsace. Soldiers belonging to the 1st french army symbollicaly get their flag wet in the waters of the Rhine. 
They are about to begin their offensive towards Stuttgart.  

The Rhine is reached!

Légionnaires onboard the ship Ville d'Alger on their way to Norway, 1940. They are listening to music but keep a Hotchkiss mdle1914 ready to be used in case they have to defend the boat against planes. They have perceived special coats for fighting in arctic conditions.
