17th September 1944 after the failed Operation "Tanne Ost" (Fir tree East) German invasion of Finnish Suursaari 15tth September the battle was first conflict between former brothers-in-arms Finns and Germans, Finns won the battle and kept strategically important Suursaari. We can say operation that "Tanne Ost" was part of Lapland War 1944-1945 even the battle did not happen in Lapland but on Finnish island in Gulf of Finland.
