Captain Iikka Törrönen, born 1914, joined Finnish Air Force in early 1930's and served as Flight commander in it's No. 24 Squadron during WWII, scoring 9 victories and 5 shared victories in some 260 sorties. Two of the shared victories came in the Winter War (1939-40) flying Fokker D.XXI, and the rest during Continuation War (1941-44)when he flew Brewster B-239. He scored last victories on 21 April 1943 (LaGG-3 & La-5) before he went missing at eastern Gulf of Finland on 2 May 1943. He was later declared dead and his final faith remains unknown. In later research claims were found that he had been captured by Soviets and was kept in prison in Leningrad, where he was hospitalized during summer 1944, and after recovering was sent to some labor camp. Next sightings of him were from Norilsk Camp No. 5, in northern Siberia. He is claimed to have been met last time alive in 1954.
