Finnish 3rd Division troops marching along the Raate road in June 1941. After crossing the border the division fought at Kestenga and Uhtua (Kalevala), and was transferred to Karelian Isthmus in 1944 where it took part in Battle of Tali-Ihantala. During Lapland War in 1944, the 3rd Division fought the Battle of Tornio and advanced to Rovaniemi and Muonio. The division's soldiers were finally demobilized unit by unit in October-November 1944. Total casualties of the division in the period of 1941-1944 where 10,000 men dead, wounded and missing.
