Operation Hokki. Long range patrol is crossing a wide river and their leader Captain Honkanen, who is ill and in high fever, is packed into a rubber boat. August 29, 1944.

The mission objective was to destroy railway yard of Petroskoi to prevent enemy from supplying it's troops in Battle of Ilomantsi. Due to many setbacks the objective was changed and they destroyed large parts of a railroad track used to supply the troops in Ilomantsi. Operation Hokki is the only known Finnish airborne operation in WWII.

Operation Hokki, August/September 1944. The mission leader Captain Ilmari Honkanen (middle) fell sick during the mission, so badly that he was barely able to remain conscious by the time this picture was taken. Rubber boots also made abrasion to his foot which became badly infected, and he was unable to return from the mission on foot and had to be secretly evacuated with floatplane after armistice of september 1944.
