Sgt. Mallila with captured SVT-40

Eino Mallila (1919-1942) Knight of the Mannerheim Cross #20. Mallila was rifleman in JR 7 (Infantry Regiment 7) during the Winter War and platoon second-in-command during the Continuation War, serving first in JR 3 and then in 3rd Brigade. He received the Mannerheim Cross for situation which occurred on August 31, 1941, at Porlampi where his platoon was encircled on open field and he fought through 3 enemy lines and brought his men, prisoners and the platoon's machine guns to own lines. He was killed by anti-tank gun on February 26, 1942, at Krivi.
