Heinkel He 115

During the Continuation War Finnish Airforce had three He 115 seaplanes and they served mainly as transport aircrafts for the long distance patrols operating behind enemy lines. It proved to be very fitting for this role as it could transport 12-14 men and it didn't require large open space to land on, but instead could touch down on lakes. This particular He 115 "Jenny" was destroyed during a mission in july 1943. It was supposed to pick up an eight man patrol from a lake but because of miscalculation it landed on a wrong lake (which was actually the secondary extraction point) and enemy forces who were after the patrol destroyed the aircraft and captured it's crew.
