While congratulating Mannerheim asked him that why isn't he wearing his ribbons and rank insignias, where Sippola answered that he came straight from the front line and it's not safe to wear officer's belt or insignias where he came from. He also said that the order to go to Mikkeli came so unexpectedly that he didn't had time to do anything before leaving.

Aarne Reino Ilmari Lukkari(1908–1951) Knight of the Mannerheim Cross #67. Engineer Major Lukkari is described to have been the perfect model of a combat engineer, in bravery, consideration and in skills. Captain Lukkari spent the Winter War participating in the planning and contructing defenses on Karelian Isthmus, but  in 1941 during the offense phase of the Continuation War he personally took part in destruction of several bunker and strongholds. During the war he was wounded twice, was promoted to rank of Major on August 27, 1941, and received the Mannerheim Cross on July 5, 1942. He was also awarded the German Iron Cross (2nd class).

Major Reino Lukkari

Ahto Kullervo Kaj Sippola(1914–1944) Knight of the Mannerheim Cross #86. During the offense phase of the Continuation War in 1941, Lieutenant Sippola was leader of anti-tank platoon which used 37mm ATG's, 20mm Lahti L-39 ATR's and later captured 45mm ATG's. He led his platoon well, making it effect the course of battles in remarkable way. He also personally destroyed atleast 10 tanks and several machinegun nests and wooden machinegun bunkers. The mannerheim cross was awarded to Sippola on August 31, 1942, and it was personally given to him by Marshal Mannerheim, on September 15. 

Lt. Sippola was killed in action, on June 16, 1944.
