Johannes Hartikainen (1912-1979) the Knight of the Mannerheim Cross #62.
Served as rifleman in JR 34 (34th Infantry Regiment) during the Winter War (1939-40) and fought at Suvilahti and Kollaa in Ladoga Karelia. In Continuation War (1941-44) he was anti-tank gunner in JR 60 and destroyed 7 tanks already in his first battle of the war. He suffered serious hearing damage during fierce battles and was made company combat messenger, and later served in supply, staff and Civil Guard duties. The Mannerheim Cross (2nd class) was awarded to him on May 19, 1942.
