In 1942 the British passengership City of Cairo was torpedoed while on it's way from Mumbai to England.While the ship was dead in the water,the German Uboot commander gave the 311 souls on board 10 minutes to evacuate to the lifeboats and leave the ship to recieve a second torpedo to finish it off.It took 3 weeks for the people to get rescued,by this time some 104 were dead.Unknown to the Germans was it's precious cargo,some 100 tons of silver coins needed for the British wareffort.
