The tail of B-24J, Serial Number 42-51151, of 376th Heavy Bomb Group "Liberandos" shot down by anti-aircraft artillery on July 2, 1944 at Ferihegy Airfield in Budapest, Hungary. The aircraft leaved San Pancrazio Airfield, near Brindisi, Southern Italy, base of "Liberandos" for a mission to bomb the airfield at Veces near Budapest,  took a direct flak hit and burst into flames. Nine of eleven crew member bailed out, but the two pilots

This artigliere (because the low resolution of the photo, I'm not sure, but a black one-tip flame, sorrounded of yellow, on collars indicates artillery) did the extreme duty.
