This disturbing photos shows the body of 18-year-old ethnic german girl Gertrud Rohnde, daughter of the peasant  Rohde of Langenau. On september 3rd 1939 several thousand people of the german minority were slaughtered by a mob consisting polish civilians and militaries. Just in the city of Bromberg between 1200 and 1500 germans inc. women, children and old people were murdered beastly. On the picture you can see that two of the fingers of the girl's right hand have been chopped off for the poles might be able to steal her rings.

This german catholic priest of the Church of the sacred Heart of Bromberg (today: Bydgoszcz/Poland) in silent prayer in front of the bodies of massacred ethnic-german civilians, Bromberg september 3rd-5th 1939. Two weeks before on august 20th 1939 (the war hadn't even begun) the upper-silesian voivode Micha Graczyñski yelled on a meeting of the &quot;Association of the Insurrectionist of Poland&quot; to the crowd: &quot;Strike down the germans, anywhere you meet them!&quot; This terrible slogan was the beginning of the inferno of the last weeks before the outbreak of the war and after.
