Me 109G of JG27 (col.)

A Me 109 G-6, believed to be the aircraft of Major Ludwig Franzisket, Gruppenkommandeur of I./JG 27, probable date: February/March, 1944. By this time the unit had left the Mediterranean theatre and was stationed at Fels-am-Wagram airfield, Austria, as part of the 'Defense of the Reich' (Reichsverteidigung), thus the all green band (unique to JG 27). The white tail section is a reminescent from the unit's service time on the MTO, the yellow under the nose was most probably one of the marking variants of Luftflotte 4. b&w original: http://www.ww2incolor.com/german-air-force/air_me109_44.html
