A display of some tasty equipment captured by the Nationalist 57th infantry division during the Shanggao campaign in early/mid 1941. For its admirable performance during this operation, the 57th would earn the name of the 'Roaring Tigers (虎贲)'. But the 57th is most well known for its participation in the defense of Changde in 1943. The division of 8,315 soldiers and officers held out against two Japanese divisions with a combined strength of over 30,000 troops, which were supported by armour, heavy artillery, air support, and even poison gas. The 57th held out for 11 days and nights, inflicting over 4000 casualties on the Japanese. 83 of the division members survived. March 1941 China
