F/S Mandel Bloomfield, killed in action

Flight Sergeant Mandel Bloomfield, R-61005, R.C.A.F. of Edmonton, was reported killed in action overseas on July 31, 1942. A funeral service was held at the Sir Moses Montefiore (Heneage Road) synagogue at Grimsby, Lincolnshire. He enlisted in 1940 and went overseas in October, 1941. While overseas, he took special course in aerial torpedo work. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bloomfield of Edmonton. He received his education at Oliver Public School and Victoria High School. The Edmonton regional chapter of AZA (B'nai Brith Youth) was named after him.
