The First Quebec Conference was held in Quebec City from August 17 1943 to August 24 1943 between the British, Canadian and US governments. The conference was codenamed "QUADRANT". The chief representatives were Winston Churchill (Great Britain), William Lyon Mackenzie King (Canada) and Franklin Delano Roosevelt (USA). The results of the conference were: -) Begin of discussions for an invasion in France codenamed "Overlord" -) Increase bombing offensive against Germany -) Continue with the buildup of American forces in Great Britain before the invasion in France -) Increase force in the Mediterranean to remove Italy from the Axis and to occupy it together with Corsica -) Decision to limit the involvement in the Balkans on supplying Partisans -) Operations against Japan should be intensified to exhaust Japanese resources, cut their communication lines and to secure forward bases to be able to attack the Japanese main islands -) Condemnation of German atrocities in Poland During the Conference, Churchill and Roosevelt secretly signed the Quebec Agreement to share nuclear technology. The agreement was needed as the cooperation was becoming difficult and Churchill even thought about seeting up a separate British Atmoic Bomb program.
