There are a million captions one could put on this picture, but I will suffice it to say that meeting THIS many Germans armed to the teeth would have been these two Canadian soldiers greatest nightmare..lol

A temporary graveyard in Holland, 1945.  Great pains were taken to identify properly the name, unit, and location of the remains of every fallen soldier, which were eventually transferred to one of the hundreds of Commonwealth War Graves.

Lieutenant J. Kostelac of Calgary, Alberta showing the US/Canada shoulder-sleeve insignia worn by all members of the First Special Service Force, an elite force of Canadian and American soldiers whose exploits were legendary.  On March 4, 1944, Kostelac went missing in action and is presumed dead.
