The HMCS Kalamalka under way.  This small ship was used for coastal patrols and various other duties.  She was named after the beautiful Kalamalka lake of the Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada

We look at all these pictures and should forget that to get them the photographers took the same risks and the fighting men did .R.I.P.

Aboard an amphiboius assault craft, The Arglye & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada go in for the landing.  Note the officer in front wears a woollen hat called a "cap comforter", and per regimental dress regulations, a regimental striped necktie in the colours of the 2nd Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.  You have to wonder who the wag was that determined an "Officer & a Gentleman" would be required to wear a tie into battle.  Perhaps to use as a turniqet lol.
