New war, old uniforms
On Remembrance Day 1939 in Edmonton the newly raised active service battalion of The Edmonton Regiment marched past regimental founder Major General William Griesbach. The troops still wore First World War style uniforms. Within a month they would be in the army's new battle dress.

Mortars and machine-gun fire rains down on the Carleton and York Regt. However, a small group of Seaforths breaks through the German line and captures nearly 80 prisoners. Without reinforcements, the Highlanders are withdrawn, but a weak point in the enemy defences is discovered near Casa Berardi.
