M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo: "Jumbo" was the assault tank variant of the standard Sherman, upgrading frontal armor to 102 mm (4.0 in), with a glacis plate of 150 mm. Up to 7 inches of armor was applied to the gun mantlet. On this particular vehicle, the original 75mm gun has been upgraded to the higher velocity 76mm. Regardless of the upgrade in armor and armament (note the "plank armor" on the sides), a flank shot from a German AT gun has done this Jumbo in--German border, late 1944.

Jumbo

British Churchill tanks embarking LST 239  prior to D-Day. Armed with a 75mm gun like other British tanks, by 1944-45 the Churchill was under-gunned by German standards. These examples appear to have cast turrets and are Churchill Mk IVs (identifiable by the square escape doors) upgraded to Mk VII standard with 75mm guns.
