Another photo I came across on fb,without date or place.One comment says it could be early war 39/40 because of the Bren Mk1.Another comment goes:
Mk1 Bren with butt spoon, the majority removed and the mounting stud ground off ...if that is a sand coloured overpaint, and a locally fitted holder, then could be slightly later and in the desert..(?)

At the time of The Blitz, the unarmed Havoc Turbinlite was intended to find the enemy bombers using its RDF equipment and then use the Turbinlite to illuminate the target for accompanying Hurricanes to find and shoot down.
