Patricia Burke, stage, screen and radio star, accompanied by a flight lieutenant playing a ukelele, entertains pilots of an RAF Squadron while sitting on the wing of a Republic Thunderbolt I at an airfield in Central Burma. Patricia and her mother, the singer and actress Marie Burke, visited a number of airfields and hospitals in the forward area during their tour of the Far East.

A RAF’s Spitfire VC forced to land because battle damages on the Scoglitti’s shore, near Ragusa, SE Sicily. The aircraft, of No 185 Squadron RAF based at Malta, was down by the Macchi MC.202 of Italian Air Force’s 51st Stormo, took off from Gela air base, on 9 September 1942. The Spit was recovered by the Italian and moved, disassembled, to Guidonia’s Flight Test Center where was analyzed by the Italian intelligence, but not brought to flight conditions. On August of the same year another Spit V was forced to and emergency land because lack of fuel again near Ragusa. In both the events the pilots was taken POW. Victor Sierra
