RAF’s CR.42

This Fiat CR.42, with wheel fairings removed, is one of the Italian aircraft captured by the British Forces during and after their advance in Cyrenaica, Operation Crusader, end 1941. In particular this aircraft, in the photo already in British markings, was captured intact and flown by No.238 Squadron, a Royal Air Force fighter Squadron at this time equipped with Hurricanes, when was based at El Gubbi, near Tobruk, between 19th January and 5th February 1942. Further fate of this plane unknown. Victor Sierra
